lyrics

Coasting down the Lost Coast. Yeah, that’s the coast I like the most. Coasting down the Lost Coast. Oh, that’s the coast I like the most. Headin’ to San Francsco with absolutely nothing to do. I met this hippie guitarist.
Smoked all of my American Sprit Blues

So I drove down to Sedona looking for some native song and dance. Drove down to Sedona hoping to find me some native song and dance. Went driving ‘cross that dessert. That sun looked just like a bruise. As it bounced off that new casino, I got those American Spirit Blues

So I ambled into Austin. I was hoping to put myself at ease. Ambled straight to Austin hoping to set my mind at ease. Then I got drunk on ol’ 6th street. There were too many sounds to choose. I got back in my Toyota pick-up with those American Spirit Blues.

So I rode on into Rosine, the birth place of Bill Monroe. Rode straight into Rosine. I was looking for the ghost of Bill Monroe. Yes I went where the grass was bluer, it just wasn’t a hue I’d choose. I guess I’m searching for something new, I’ve got those American Spirit Blues.

So I pushed on into Avalon searching hard for Hurt’s home. Pushed on into Avalon, Mississippi John Hurt’s home. You know that Mr. Mississippi had absolutely nothing to prove. He just played his own brand of music: Those American Spirit Blues.

I guess I gotta head back home. Maybe I should have never roamed. It’s about time I head back home. I’m so damn tired of being alone. Yes it’s time that I cruise on back to Santa Cruz. I hear there’s lots of happy people there with those American Spirit Blues.
